Multi-Wet Multi-55 is a highly effective scale and corrosion inhibitor suitable for use in cooling towers and is based on a proprietary zinc and phosphate formulation. The mode of action involves the phosphate ion reacting with Fe+2 produced at anodic sites to form a reaction-limiting deposit, while calcium phosphate precipitates in the local alkaline environment at cathodic sites to inhibit electron transfer. Furthermore the zinc passivates the surface of the metal piping as it deposits a self-controlled film of insoluble zinc phosphate. The zinc reacts with the hydroxyl ions generated at cathodes to form a precipitate, which provides additional cathodic protection. Multi-Wet Multi-55 also contains a tolytriazole based inhibitor that functions as a specific yellow metal inhibitor, further protecting process plant life.

Multi-55 is a proprietary chemical formulation that has been field-proven for more than a decade, in a range of applications by Multi-Wet, and is now supplied exclusively in Australia, by Parkway Process Solutions.
